Mass Effect 3 multiplayer confirmed
Powerplay are reporting that Mass Effect 3 will feature some form of multilplayer component. The Australian magazine just posted this on their site: “That’s right – Mass Effect 3 is getting multiplayer! We travel to BioWare’s office in Edmonton for hands-on time with the series’ first foray into online gameplay, and chat with Mass Effect Series Producer and Mass Effect 3 Project Director Casey Hudson about the decision to go multiplayer in the epic battle for the galaxy.” The coverline of the mag reads: “Fight alongside your friends as the galaxy goes to war!” Despite rumours that Mass Effect 3 would feature a multiplayer component, Bioware have been careful not to confirm the mode, until now. What’s your Mass Effect multiplayer mode of choice? Co-op, adverserial, or a Brink-esque combination of the two? Or should Mass Effect have stuck to its singleplayer guns?

"Xbox 720" in a movie trailer, coincidence or stealth advertising?
Internet has discovered something odd: The trailer for the movie Real Steel, which is about futuristic robot fighting, you have spotted a banner advertising the Xbox 720, among others, true brands. Xbox 720 has for years been a silly name for Microsoft's next-gen console theoretical. It has never been confirmed in any way, and only been used for speculation. The future? But here it is suddenly, in an actual movie trailer. Do the makers of the film which we do not know, or is it a cunning that is much at stake forums (and apparently working on special effects) that have crept into the ad nonsense? Strange.
New Modern Warfare 3 Trailer
Yesterday the new Modern Warfare 3 Redemption trailer was released to the public. Finally, it got a positive response from its fans, where as in the past, it didn't seem to please everyone. The trailer provides tons of tasty eye candy for Call of Duty fans. We get to reunite with our old friend Captain Price and take aim at Markarov's head. The trailer shows mass destruction happening everywhere in the world and the graphics seem to be handled very well. If anyone would agree with me, this is looking a lot like Call of Duty 4, which makes fans very happy.

Unreal Engine 3 Comes to Flash
Dead or Alive 5 : Official Pre-Alpha Gameplay
Team Ninja explained at Tokyo Game Show that the goal for Dead or Alive 5 is to be more than a fighting game. It needs to be "fighting entertainment." The use of highly dynamic backgrounds and environments, mixed with some cinematic camera angles, certainly makes DOA5 look unlike any fighter out there. But, is it too much? We can't help but wonder how this game will actually play in this extended gameplay clip. It looks incredible--but will it be more fun to watch than actually play?
Torchlight 2 preview
But that’s not the only difference between the two games. “We didn’t want to make it seem like we were simply tacking multiplayer onto Torchlight,” says Schaefer, “so we made the decision to start from scratch on characters”. In Torchlight II, there’ll be four new classes to choose from – the ranged, “lowmagic” nomad Outlander, the meleefocused, engineering-themed Railman, the fast-attacking Berserker, who’ll come with a selection of animal powers, and a mystery fourth character. Runic wouldn’t reveal too much about this one, but fantasy RPG tradition dictates that some form of mana-guzzling sorceress would fit nicely into that lineup. Each will have customisable male and female variants. Rather than simply giving players a new set of dungeons to explore, Torchlight II is expanding above ground. The linear, claustrophobic caverns of the first title are being augmented by overworld environments that’ll include deserts, snowy temples, dwarven battlefields, and haunted forests and swamps. Each has a full day/night cycle and random weather.
Those environments are far larger than in Torchlight. The largest levels in the first game were comprised of six to seven ‘chunks’ in a random linear order, but in Torchlight II a typical area will be comprised of as many as 23 ‘chunks’ in a grid. There’ll still be an entrance and an exit, but there’ll also be hidden corners to explore, rivers to navigate and landmarks to investigate. “The world is bigger and deeper,” Schaefer says. That world is split into three major sections, each with its own different hub town. Random events and tasks will pop up for your character to deal with in whatever way they see fit. Those will range from a broken down wagon beset by monsters to a slave camp that you have to burn down to free those trapped within. Each landmark in the game will have some form of mini-boss tied to it, marking a major increase in the number of boss fights that you’ll need to deal with. Guiding you will be a bulked-out plot. Whereas the first game’s story was largely incidental to the action, its sequel aims for a more balanced approach. “We don’t want to change the action-oriented nature of the game, but we want the story to feel more immersive and compelling,” Schaefer says. “This time we even hired a real writer!”
The sequel has been delayed a little by the process of getting the first Torchlight out on the Xbox 360, but PC gamers shouldn’t feel left out. “It gave our artists and level designers a bit more time to make cool stuff,” says Schaefer. “Also, we made some technological optimisations based on the necessities of porting to the Xbox.” That should mean that Torchlight II will have the same low system requirements of its predecessor, despite an increased polygon count and larger environments. Schaefer won’t commit to whether it would come with the much-loved netbook mode of the first game though. “We’ll wait till its done before saying anything about netbooks, just to be on the safe side.” By starting with the same basic technology and tools as the original game, the focus this time around can be placed more squarely on more and better content. “We’ve got a great running start. The development cycle will be around two years, which is almost twice as long as we took on Torchlight,” Schaefer says. Don’t dismiss Torchlight II as a mere stepping stone between the purity of Torchlight and the endgame of an eventual MMO. The first game distilled the action-RPG genre into a simple easy-tounderstand package, but Torchlight II promises to perfect that package with the addition of multiplayer, more compelling environments, and a storyline worth paying attention to. If Runic can pull it off, that long wait for Diablo III might not seem so bad after all.
Dota 2 Update Introduces Bloodseeker, Kunkka, and Practice Bots
In addition to Bloodseeker and Kunkka entering the Dota 2 arena, yesterday's update introduced several new features.
Valve enabled practice bots, and while they're still a work in progress, they're a great "low-pressure tool for trying out new heroes and item builds." While League of Legends currently has practice bots as well, Dota 2 takes it to another level, giving players the ability to control and direct the bots.
"You can ping the minimap to send commands to your allied bots – ping an enemy tower to tell them to push a lane, an enemy hero to ask for assistance in a gank, and so on."
Dota 2 bots take it a step further by indicating their plans to you via text chat. Some of their abilities include:
Let you know when they’re coming to your lane for a gank.
Communicate when they’re fleeing or losing a fight.
Indicate their high priority targets in upcoming team fights.
Expose their thinking about whether they should push or defend their lanes.
Call for assistance versus Roshan if they think the timing is right.
Valve isn't stopping there. They also revealed a few features they will be adding to the bots next. Future updates include:
User specified difficulty levels, so you can tune them to your skill level.
Deeper control over your allied bots, so you can “command” your team at a high level. For instance, you might want your team’s carry to not join a fight, and instead keep farming their lane. Note that they do a good job of making these kinds of decisions themselves, but if you really want to be hands-on, you can.
Support for several more heroes.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive beta coming early October
Professional gamers and invited guests will make it onto the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive closed beta early this October. Valve’s Chet Faliszeck told The Reticule that they’re planning to grow the beta in the coming months, and he hopes everyone will have a chance to play by the end of the year. Counter-Strike pros have already had a chance to go hands on with Counter-Strike: Global Offensive when they were invited to Valve HQ for testing earlier this year. A Counter-Strike: Global Offensive hands-on account from one of those testers uncovered new weapons like the molotov cocktail, and a tweaked and updated version of the Counter-Strike classic, de_dust. The first Counter-Strike: Global Offensive trailer revealed more, including support for cross platform play with Mac and Playstation 3 gamers, and officially supported servers that will offer improved matchmaking and a ranking system. Most recently, Valve announced that they have been working with the modders who created the original Gun Game mod, and will bring it to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive with new modes and eight new maps. Check the trailer down below:
Star Wars The Old Republic Releasing During Christmas
Valve has announced that they plan to release DOTA 2 sooner
"Our original plan was to spend the next year or so in beta, adding new features and slowly growing the number of heroes until we reached a level of parity with Dota 1, at which point we'd release Dota 2 to the world. But the feedback we're seeing everywhere is that people just want to play it, even though there's still a ton of heroes yet to be implemented. We've also seen that the folks who are already in the beta are chomping at the bit to show everyone else some of the fun games they've had. So we decided our original plan was dumb." "Welcome to the new plan: We're going to take the current version of Dota 2, which has The International set of heroes, and get it out there as fast as we can. We've still got some work to do in a couple of areas, so we'll be keeping it invite-only for a (hopefully short) period of time. But there'll be no restrictions on what players can do with it – they can release screenshots, make movies, shoutcast matches, write guides, publicly make fun of our HUD, or anything else their hearts desire. While they do that, we'll be shipping regular updates with more heroes, new features we've been working on, and improvements on the existing content as we get more and more feedback."

DC Universe Online Will Be Free To Play This October

Both PlayStation 3 and PC players will be able to download and play the game for free. Three tiered levels will act as the game's revenue source from there along with in-game microtransactions.

WoW Has Entered a Recession, Who Could Replace it?
Blizzard chief system designer Greg Street, acknowledged in an interview that World of Warcraft has entered a recession and if World of Warcraft is losing its dominant position, which game could be able to lead MMOs into a new age? Let's discuss about the following titles and see which one is likely to replace WoW?
Titan
Titan, Blizzard's upcoming MMO is the best successor of WoW. This secretive product is claimed to be a next-gen MMO and will be completely different from WoW. It looks so at least. Based on legends that titans returned to the earth to take revenge, the game will make great modifications on the class system and the in-game factions will restrain each other instead of being antagonistic. A same class from different races will experience differently in the game. Although little info was leaked by Blizzard, Titan has indeed attracted players’ attention. After all, any product made by Blizzard is of high quality.
Guild Wars 2
NCsoft's Guild Wars 2 once beat WOW at Gamescom 2010 and won the Best Online Game Award. The highly anticipated Guild Wars 2, the sequel to Guild Wars is a MMORPG developed by NCsoft's North American subsidiary ArenaNet. For NCsoft, whose sales are mainly from domestic market, Guild Wars is the only one game that has reaped more profits in overseas markets. Likewise, Guild Wars 2 enjoys higher popularity abroad. Thus, NCsoft hopes Guild Wars 2 can fulfill the goal of becoming a truly global blockbuster. As of today, Guild Wars 2 has been the best received original product. Inheriting the sequel's storyline and systems, Guild Wars 2 has been redesigned thoroughly. However, it is unclear when it will be released.
Star Wars:The Old Republic
Star Wars: The Old Republic is EA's most expensive game at the cost of more than US$100 million. This 3D MMORPG based in the Star Wars Universe is currently in development by BioWare and LucasArts, branches of EA. High cost definitely leads to high quality, but the game's repeated postponement did dissatisfy many players. The game didn't announce the exact release date, but the insider at Bioware first disclosed the game would come out between Q1 and Q2, 2010, and then revealed at E3 2010 that the game would be available this spring, whereas, it is autumn now. Bioware even said at E3 2011 that the game was scheduled to launch by the end of 2011. Let's wait and see whether the game will be delayed again.
TERA: The Exiled Realm Of Arborea
TERA is another Korean game developed by Korea-based NHN. It is a masterpiece with first-class graphics and adopts unique technologies to actualize in-game combat and present impressive attack strength, direction, range and damage. TERA once won the Best of PC and Best MMO Awards at E3 2011 and is highly spoken of by many WOW celebrities due to its innovative political system and dazzling battle scenes.
Blade & Soul
Blade & Soul, the newest 3D action fantasy MMORPG from South Korea-based NCsoft, aims to get rid of boring game modes and bring players refreshing and amusing gaming experiences. Produced by Linage 2's former development director and famous graphic designers for more than 2 years, Blade & Soul has entered its 2nd CBT. Although some characters wearing very little have already been deleted, existing female characters are still very sexy. With breathtaking graphics, the game showcases a vivid oriental martial-arts world, incredible Qinggong, pretty characters, uplifting striking feelings, bloody battles and interesting quests… In a word, this oriental martial-arts MMORPG has the potential to be a blockbuster thanks to its gorgeous graphics, enhanced actions, familiar game style and incisive violence.
The Secret World
The Secret World is a horror MMORPG for PC and Xbox 360 developed by North America-based Funcom. Set in the modern real world, the game incorporates ancient mythologies, real and false history, urban legends and pop cultures. In the game, players will be free to travel across different locations of the world, like London, New York and Seoul. Other ideas ranging from vampires, Merovingian and Stonehenge have also been used in the game. Finding themselves in a world between reality and illusion, players may enjoy more thrilling things.
ArcheAge
Jake Song, known as the father of Lineage, has indeed made ArcheAge the first 3rd-generation MMORPG in the world. With epoch-making concept, magnificent gaming world and exquisite expression, ArcheAge is acknowledged as the most hopeful game to change the MMO history. As the game lore is penned by a famous fantasy author, ArcheAge provides an extensive fantasy world, completed storyline and a variety of more acceptable settings.
Kingdom Under Fire 2
The tactical action-packed MMORPG Kingdom Under Fire II is set to be released by NHN in the second half of 2011. It once appeared on the cover of Play Magazine and was praised as a unique game that others couldn't compare with. According to report, Kingdom Under Fire II has matchless excellent graphics and authentic medieval battlefields. Because of that, players will be certain to marvel at the game’s diversified tactics and appreciate the art of war.
Well, I've list a long list, but still some titles I've missed inevitably. Now over to you – Which title do you think will take over from WoW? I'm are eager to know your viewpoint. Let me know in the comment section below!

PS3 and 360 crammed neatly into a PC case
Modders all over the world like to pour their hearts and souls into crafting sweet video game console mods, but sometimes keeping it all simple and clean is best.
For example, Reddit reader "timofiend" has solved the problem of having to manage multiple consoles by fitting an 80GB PS3 (original "fat" older models) and an Xbox360 S into one PC case. Timofiend is working on revealing information on the building process. So far, he says he hasn't really run into any huge issues.
In terms of overheating, Timofiend said that he skipped out on using liquid cooling because it was too costly, and it looks like when both consoles are turned on at the same time, the temperature hovers at around 38-39 degrees celsius (100-102 degrees fahrenheit) for the PS3 and 37-38 degrees celsius (98.6-100 degrees fahrenheit) for the Xbox 360 , which isn't all that bad if you ask me.
TERA Healer Trailer Revealed

For all of the action fueled excitement, look down for the full trailer.
Naruto Generations Demo Release Date
Is still unknown, do not believe any one else because as of September 2011 there is still no official date to as when this game will be released, however a few new things have announced:
Like a brand new Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations scan from Shonen Jump which reveals Mei, the 5th Mizukage and Onoki, the 3rd Tsuchikage as two new playable characters! The scan also confirms both Kage’s right-hand men as support characters – Chojuro and Ao from the Hidden Mist Village and Akatsuchi and Kurotsuchi from the Hidden Rock Village. It’s unclear whether Chojuro, Ao, Akatsuchi, and Kurotsuchi will be playable, however, in an interview with Namco Bandai, it was mentioned there would be some support only characters in this game.

Diablo 3 Will include Real Money Auction House
Real Money Auction House, a special feature introduced by Blizzard that will change the future of online gaming forever. This feature will basically allow the players to buy and sell in game goods for real money. Blizzard will take a "nominal" flat-rate fee for each listing and sale, and an additional fee if players choose to cash out payments for sold items via a third-party payment provider such as PayPal. There will be separate auction houses for each region and currency. Another separate, but functionally identical auction house will exist for players who wish to trade using in-game gold rather than real currency. Players will be able to trade items, components and game gold on the auction house. Blizzard is considering allowing the sale of game characters, too. Trading via the auction house will be completely anonymous. Players will be allowed a small number of free listings per week to encourage participation in the currency auction house, making it possible to begin trading without making any payments.

Korean MMOs growing in North America
The game show PAX held in Seattle, US, ended last week. This year's show probably is the biggest one ever since PAX was created. Although the exhibition center is 30% larger than last year, it only took about ten minutes before it was flooded by gamers from all over America. According to the Korean Media, what NCSoft prepared for Guild Wars 2 players took up all the seats very soon. In fact, it indicates that Korean MMOs are replacing console games at PAX. It used to be considered that MMOs was dominating Asia while console games was more popular in US and Europe. however now such situation has changed. In the word of the vice president of NCSoft US, "MMOPRG has attracted great attention in North America market", and Guild Wars 2, a game which costs them 4 years and all the energy of 270 professional developers "is shining brilliantly in US now." In addition to Guild Wars 2, other MMOs, such as Rift, League of Legends, also attracted a full house of audience at PAX. According to Korea Culture & Content Agency, the market of MMO in North America has been expanding during the last 5 fives at an annual rate of 15%-18%. It is estimated that it would reach 2119 million this year and 3569 million in 2014. In the popularity ranking list of MMOs that are currently operated in North America, two of NCSoft games--Aion and Guild Wars, take up second and eighth place respectively. Maplestory, the classic casual online game of another Korean Company Nexon takes up the fifth place.

Steve Jobs Resigned as CEO of Apple.
Apple today announced that Steve Jobs has resigned as Chief Executive Officer, and they have named Tim Cook, previously Apple’s Chief Operating Officer, as the company’s new CEO. Steve has been elected Chairman of Apple.
Apple has complete confidence that Tim is the right person to be our next CEO,” said Art Levinson, on behalf of Apple’s Board of Directors. “Tim’s 13 years of service to Apple have been marked by outstanding performance, and he has demonstrated remarkable talent and sound judgment in everything he does.”
Letter from Steve Jobs:
"CUPERTINO, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:
I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come. I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.
As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.
Steve comments are certainly ominous, implying that his health hasn’t improved since he stepped aside from day-to-day operations several months ago. But it’s good news that he plans to continue on as Chairman of Apple’s Board of Directors and as an employee.

Free to Play Coming to Consoles
It comes as no surprise to anyone that free to play games will be a part of the current console generation and play an even stronger part in the next generation. Basically, it’s something we all kinda predicted, since it’s the path that the videogames industry is following. Popularity and quality of free-to-play games is increasing drastically each year that goes by enormous amounts . As soon as free-to-play titles proved viable and extremely lucrative in the west, it was merely a question of time until they jumped from PC to consoles.
Rumors abound of Microsoft planning to jump in the free-to-play wagon very soon. They are, according to several sources, working on the micro-transaction backend for Xbox LIVE, something that is, as we all know, the real reason for a prolific free-to-play market to exist and grow exponentially. Micro-transactions of virtual items are an incredible source of income for developers – at nearly no cost (only the creation of the shop and items and time) and without any danger of stock rupture (how can you run out of something that isn’t physical?), this is a commercial dream come true.
Besides selling in-game items, Microsoft is looking at other free-to-play model: premium upgrades. What this means is that players who want the full experience will have to pay for something like a premium subscription.
Tribes: Ascend is coming to PC (free-to-play) and Xbox 360 sometime this year, and it seems that Microsoft is working as fast as they can to get this anticipated Tribes sequel as a free-to-play launch title in Xbox 360. It’s a difficult objective, but not an impossible one. Sony is also experimenting with the free-to-play market, with their MMORPG Free Realms already available on PS3 (and there’s also the Japanese-only MMORPG Angel Love Online).
Nintendo is planning to add in a near future DLC content to 3DS and Wii U on their eShop, as reported by Satoru Iwata, Nintendo’s president. This will allow for purchase of additional content for games. That being said, the eShop will be technically prepared to offer micro-transactions and freemium content for future free-to-play games. The announcement that free-to-play tactical shooter Ghost Recon online will launch on Wii U and PC is telling of Nintendo’s will to bet in free-to-play games.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the industry are conflicting opinions about the subject matter, saying that free to play MMO games will take quite some time to prove themselves on consoles and that their success will be far from that attained on PC, since the experience isn’t exactly the same. However, some MMOs are proving the contrary, with DC Universe Online (a pay-to-play MMORPG game) being reasonably successful. In the old days the FPS games were also an experience only possible in pc… Besides, other genres such as MMOFPS games, Racing MMO's and much more are reliable additions to consoles and their integration seems relatively easier.
Free-to-play games are here to stay and are also confidently gaining their share in the mobile market, in devices such as mobiles and iPads, and I would be surprised if handheld consoles stay out of the deal, even if a steady online connection is necessary all of the time.
Talking about the future of videogames is an arduous task, since technology is constantly evolving. If it’s related to cloud gaming or other format, one thing seems certain about it – free-to-play games will be with us all the time. The Internet access is getting better and better and this allows for the ideal conditions for free to play online games to evolve for something even more surprising.
Starcraft 2 and World of Warcraft Partly Free to Play Now.
The King of MMOs World of Warcraft and the Legendary E-Sports strategy game Starcraft 2 have opened their doors to anyone who's willing to come in and gone free to play over the past month which really makes me wonder what will be the future of blizzard games and will they all go free to play or is this just another of their marketing strategies?
To keep answers short; yes! I think this is a marketing strategy and a step in the right direction for blizzard because F2P games have proven to be more profitable than many P2P game out there which may seem unlikely to many but its how it is and has been. The P2P market is decreasing slowly and blizzard has realized this and also they have realized that they can get more people to try and play the game this way thus giving them more potential customers so it's a WIN/WIN situation for them to create a P2P/F2P hybrid system instead of the limited trials that they had before.
