Counter-Strike: Global Offensive beta coming early October

Professional gamers and invited guests will make it onto the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive closed beta early this October. Valve’s Chet Faliszeck told The Reticule that they’re planning to grow the beta in the coming months, and he hopes everyone will have a chance to play by the end of the year. Counter-Strike pros have already had a chance to go hands on with Counter-Strike: Global Offensive when they were invited to Valve HQ for testing earlier this year. A Counter-Strike: Global Offensive hands-on account from one of those testers uncovered new weapons like the molotov cocktail, and a tweaked and updated version of the Counter-Strike classic, de_dust. The first Counter-Strike: Global Offensive trailer revealed more, including support for cross platform play with Mac and Playstation 3 gamers, and officially supported servers that will offer improved matchmaking and a ranking system. Most recently, Valve announced that they have been working with the modders who created the original Gun Game mod, and will bring it to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive with new modes and eight new maps. Check the trailer down below:

Star Wars The Old Republic Releasing During Christmas

Finally a release date has been announced! December 20th in the North America, and December 22nd in Europe this year. Each copy comes with a month of free game-time, but if you want to play after that, you’ll need money: it’s $14.99/£8.99/€12.99 per-month.With the release date revealed, pre-order quantities will go fast. If you haven't already, make sure to pre-order now and secure your Early Game Access and exclusive in-game bonus items.

Valve has announced that they plan to release DOTA 2 sooner

"Our original plan was to spend the next year or so in beta, adding new features and slowly growing the number of heroes until we reached a level of parity with Dota 1, at which point we'd release Dota 2 to the world. But the feedback we're seeing everywhere is that people just want to play it, even though there's still a ton of heroes yet to be implemented. We've also seen that the folks who are already in the beta are chomping at the bit to show everyone else some of the fun games they've had. So we decided our original plan was dumb." "Welcome to the new plan: We're going to take the current version of Dota 2, which has The International set of heroes, and get it out there as fast as we can. We've still got some work to do in a couple of areas, so we'll be keeping it invite-only for a (hopefully short) period of time. But there'll be no restrictions on what players can do with it – they can release screenshots, make movies, shoutcast matches, write guides, publicly make fun of our HUD, or anything else their hearts desire. While they do that, we'll be shipping regular updates with more heroes, new features we've been working on, and improvements on the existing content as we get more and more feedback."

WoW Has Entered a Recession, Who Could Replace it?

Blizzard chief system designer Greg Street, acknowledged in an interview that World of Warcraft has entered a recession and if World of Warcraft is losing its dominant position, which game could be able to lead MMOs into a new age? Let's discuss about the following titles and see which one is likely to replace WoW?

Titan

Titan, Blizzard's upcoming MMO is the best successor of WoW. This secretive product is claimed to be a next-gen MMO and will be completely different from WoW. It looks so at least. Based on legends that titans returned to the earth to take revenge, the game will make great modifications on the class system and the in-game factions will restrain each other instead of being antagonistic. A same class from different races will experience differently in the game. Although little info was leaked by Blizzard, Titan has indeed attracted players’ attention. After all, any product made by Blizzard is of high quality.

Guild Wars 2

NCsoft's Guild Wars 2 once beat WOW at Gamescom 2010 and won the Best Online Game Award. The highly anticipated Guild Wars 2, the sequel to Guild Wars is a MMORPG developed by NCsoft's North American subsidiary ArenaNet. For NCsoft, whose sales are mainly from domestic market, Guild Wars is the only one game that has reaped more profits in overseas markets. Likewise, Guild Wars 2 enjoys higher popularity abroad. Thus, NCsoft hopes Guild Wars 2 can fulfill the goal of becoming a truly global blockbuster. As of today, Guild Wars 2 has been the best received original product. Inheriting the sequel's storyline and systems, Guild Wars 2 has been redesigned thoroughly. However, it is unclear when it will be released.

Star Wars:The Old Republic

Star Wars: The Old Republic is EA's most expensive game at the cost of more than US$100 million. This 3D MMORPG based in the Star Wars Universe is currently in development by BioWare and LucasArts, branches of EA. High cost definitely leads to high quality, but the game's repeated postponement did dissatisfy many players. The game didn't announce the exact release date, but the insider at Bioware first disclosed the game would come out between Q1 and Q2, 2010, and then revealed at E3 2010 that the game would be available this spring, whereas, it is autumn now. Bioware even said at E3 2011 that the game was scheduled to launch by the end of 2011. Let's wait and see whether the game will be delayed again.

TERA: The Exiled Realm Of Arborea

TERA is another Korean game developed by Korea-based NHN. It is a masterpiece with first-class graphics and adopts unique technologies to actualize in-game combat and present impressive attack strength, direction, range and damage. TERA once won the Best of PC and Best MMO Awards at E3 2011 and is highly spoken of by many WOW celebrities due to its innovative political system and dazzling battle scenes.

Blade & Soul

Blade & Soul, the newest 3D action fantasy MMORPG from South Korea-based NCsoft, aims to get rid of boring game modes and bring players refreshing and amusing gaming experiences. Produced by Linage 2's former development director and famous graphic designers for more than 2 years, Blade & Soul has entered its 2nd CBT. Although some characters wearing very little have already been deleted, existing female characters are still very sexy. With breathtaking graphics, the game showcases a vivid oriental martial-arts world, incredible Qinggong, pretty characters, uplifting striking feelings, bloody battles and interesting quests… In a word, this oriental martial-arts MMORPG has the potential to be a blockbuster thanks to its gorgeous graphics, enhanced actions, familiar game style and incisive violence.

The Secret World

The Secret World is a horror MMORPG for PC and Xbox 360 developed by North America-based Funcom. Set in the modern real world, the game incorporates ancient mythologies, real and false history, urban legends and pop cultures. In the game, players will be free to travel across different locations of the world, like London, New York and Seoul. Other ideas ranging from vampires, Merovingian and Stonehenge have also been used in the game. Finding themselves in a world between reality and illusion, players may enjoy more thrilling things.

ArcheAge

Jake Song, known as the father of Lineage, has indeed made ArcheAge the first 3rd-generation MMORPG in the world. With epoch-making concept, magnificent gaming world and exquisite expression, ArcheAge is acknowledged as the most hopeful game to change the MMO history. As the game lore is penned by a famous fantasy author, ArcheAge provides an extensive fantasy world, completed storyline and a variety of more acceptable settings.

Kingdom Under Fire 2

The tactical action-packed MMORPG Kingdom Under Fire II is set to be released by NHN in the second half of 2011. It once appeared on the cover of Play Magazine and was praised as a unique game that others couldn't compare with. According to report, Kingdom Under Fire II has matchless excellent graphics and authentic medieval battlefields. Because of that, players will be certain to marvel at the game’s diversified tactics and appreciate the art of war.

Well, I've list a long list, but still some titles I've missed inevitably. Now over to you – Which title do you think will take over from WoW? I'm are eager to know your viewpoint. Let me know in the comment section below!

PS3 and 360 crammed neatly into a PC case

Modders all over the world like to pour their hearts and souls into crafting sweet video game console mods, but sometimes keeping it all simple and clean is best. For example,  Reddit reader "timofiend" has solved the problem of having to manage multiple consoles by fitting an 80GB PS3 (original "fat" older models) and an Xbox360 S into one PC case. Timofiend is working on revealing information on the building process. So far, he says he hasn't really run into any huge issues. In terms of overheating, Timofiend said that he skipped out on using liquid cooling because it was too costly, and it looks like when both consoles are turned on at the same time, the temperature hovers at around 38-39 degrees celsius (100-102 degrees fahrenheit) for the PS3 and 37-38 degrees celsius (98.6-100 degrees fahrenheit) for the Xbox 360 , which isn't all that bad if you ask me.

TERA Healer Trailer Revealed

Healers are the unrecognized heroes of MMO worlds, protecting the valiant warriors of the realm and receiving none of the glory. Well, En Masse Entertainment(Company behind TERA North America) is looking to change that, and to start it off the they have released a new cinematic trailer that highlights the healers of TERA.

Our healer host for the trailer, a female Castanic Mystic, provides us with a bit of backstory via voiceover as monsters ravage the land. The heroes of TERA won't take that, of course, and soon enough our Castanic friend and her allies make a grand entrance and take down a legion of creatures, only to find themselves face to face with one Big Monster. For all of the action fueled excitement, look down  for the full trailer.
